A lawyer representing Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes recently said he had evidence that the former Super Bowl MVP didn’t throw a drink in the face of Anshontae Mills, an Orlando, Fla., college student who has sued the NFL player.
Now, Holmes’ lawyer, Adam Swickle, has told WPXI-TV that he has a sworn statement from a witness who has admitted that he threw the drink. Swickle said he has given that statement to detectives.
Swickle expressed confidence that the man’s statement will absolve Holmes from the allegations.
Per the report, the lawyer said the case is now under the consideration of the state attorney.
Adam Swickle told Target 11 investigator Rick Earle that the case has been handed over to the state attorney, who will decide if any charges should be filed against Holmes.
Holmes has denied any wrongdoing, and Swickle issued a statement that said the wide receiver “adamantly denies each and every one of the allegations in the complain.”
Holmes allegedly got into a confrontation with the University of Central Florida student at Rain nightclub’s VIP area.
Holmes told a police officer that Mills grabbed his wrist and called him a racial slur.
