The Steelers drafted wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders of SMU in the third round of the NFL draft tonight.
Sanders stands 5-11, weighs 185 and runs a 4.44 in the 40. He caught 98 passes for 1,339 yards in famed run-and-shoot coach June Jones’ passing offense, playing mostly in the slot.
Sanders also returned punts, averaging 13.8 yards per return. He was suspended for two games in 2008 because he was late a combined 20 minutes for study halls and five minutes for one class under Jones’ strict discipline system.
