The Steelers have signed WR Antonio Brown, a sixth-round pick from Central Michigan, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on his Twitter feed Tuesday. According to the report, the contract is for three years and includes a $73,075 signing bonus. Per The Detroit News, which also reported the signing, the contract is worth $1.28 million.
The 5-foot-10, 186-pound Brown caught 110 passes for 1,198 yards and nine TDs in his final season at Central Michigan. He declared for the draft after his junior season. Brown will compete to make the Steelers as a receiver and a returner.
In PFW’s 2010 Draft Preview, personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that while Brown had “run-after-catch ability and return skills,” his “strength and instinct deficiencies will make it difficult to separate at the next level.”
