Broken Hand Won't Stop Lawrence Timmons

Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons was busy last Sunday as the league credited him with 17 tackles to help the Steelers to a 19-16 win over the Ravens

Timmons wasn’t doing it at full strength, however. Coach Mike Tomlin revealed on Tuesday that Timmons broke his left hand at some point in the second half of the game, but he was able to finish the contest on the field despite the injury. Timmons is in a cast, but he’s expected to be in the lineup for Week Eight.

“Lawrence Timmons broke his left hand. That’s been casted. He is ready to go,” Tomlin said, via the team’s website. “That happened late in the third or early in the fourth quarter of the game. He was able to finish. We fixed it. He has full mobility in all of his fingers, but it has been secured with a cast.”

Playing with a cast is less than ideal, but it’s a pretty frequent occurrence for players who don’t make their living holding onto or catching the ball. As long as any pain is tolerated or managed, Timmons should be as effective as usual against the Raiders this Sunday.
