Former Steelers’ guard Alan Faneca will be inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame during their 2014 Induction Celebration June 19-21. There will be two days of events, followed by the Induction Dinner and Ceremony on Saturday, June 21 at the Natchitoches Events Center.
Faneca, a New Orleans native, played for LSU from 1995-97 where he was a first-team All-America in 1997 and a finalist for the Outland Trophy.
Faneca was the Steelers’ first-round draft pick in 1998, playing for the team for 10 seasons before he signed with the New York Jets. Faneca, a member of the Super Bowl XL championship team, was voted to nine consecutive Pro Bowls (2001-09) and was a six-time All-Pro selection.
Faneca will be inducted along with New Orleans Saints Owner Tom Benson, Pete Boudreaux, Richard “Moon” Ducote’, Venus Lacy, Shane Reynolds, Beryl Shipley and Lionel Washington.
