Coach Mike Tomlin said today that long-snapper Greg Warren has a meniscus tear in his knee and is expected to miss four weeks, meaning he might not be ready for the start of the regular season.
Warren has not missed a regular-season game since Dec. 21, 2009, a span of 64 consecutive games. He was injured during Wednesday’s practice scrimmage against the Buffalo Bills.
In his absence, tight end Bryce Davis will handle the long-snapping duties Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills, though Tomlin did not discount the possibility of signing another long-snapper to the training-camp roster.
Also, Tomlin said rookie inside linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee bruise) and outside linebacker Jarvis Jones (groin) are questionable for the second preseason game against the Bills at Heinz Field.
