The Pittsburgh Steelers bring back underachieving linebacker Stevenson Sylvester.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed one of their own on Wednesday. The team announced they have re-signed linebacker Stevenson Sylvester to a one-year deal.

Stevenson Sylvester joined the Steelers in 2010 as a fifth-round pick, but he has yet to make a significant decision on the defensive side of the ball.

SteelersThe biggest place for Sylvester to make an impact is on special teams, where he is a very undervalued talent and competitor. Sylvester is the definition of a special teams ace and he’s relentless in his pursuit on coverage units. He has been one of the Steelers most important players in that aspect of the game for the past couple of years.

Stevenson Sylvester will also provide some depth behind Lawrence Timmons and Larry Foote at a position where the Steelers could desperately use it.

It may not be a big name signing for the Steelers, but it is a key move that will keep the team competitive in all three areas of the game.

Sylvester has excelled on special teams, recording 23 tackles and two forced fumbles in three seasons.

Watch out for Sylvester next season, you will see his No. 55 making plays when he takes the field.
