Steelers Draft Offensive Guard David DeCastro In First Round
The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Stanford offensive guard David DeCastro with the No. 24 selection in the 2012 NFL Draft.
DeCastro was projected as high at the No. 11 pick in various CBSSports.com mock drafts, and projected as the top offensive guard in the draft. He stands 6-foot-5, 316 pounds.
DeCastro is the third straight early-round selection for the Steelers along the offensive line. Two years ago they drafted center Maurkice Pouncey and selected tackle Marcus Gilbert with their second-round pick last year.
Operating in a pro-style offense at Stanford, some draft experts think DeCastro can step in and start in the NFL this coming season.
I give the Steelers a Big HELL YEAH on this pick. Could not believe the best OG in the draft would fall this far!!!!
Can’t argue with that pick. I figured my boy James would get a friend in Dont’a Hightower but when the best OG in the draft falls to you he has to be the pick.
I don’t like this pick. DeCastro brings the team down in the looks department. There is nothing sexy about him. I hope his nasty streak is as nasty as his looks are. Sigh….
This is a great pick. with this the left side of the the O-Line is solid. I’m guessing that Ramon Foster and Willie Colon will be on the right. If Willie can’t come back from his Achilles injury, we always bring back Max Starks to fill the position.
