Steelers release QB Zach Mettenberger

Zach Mettenberger‘s time with the Steelers has ended.

The Steelers released the veteran quarterback on Monday, less than a year after signing Mettenberger to be the team’s third string quarterback for the 2016 season. This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to Steelers fans, as the team drafted Josh Dobbs in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft while also signing undrafted free agent rookie quarterback, Nick Schuessler.

The 25-year-old signal caller spent his first two NFL seasons in Tennessee, going 0-10 as a starter during his two season with the Titans. The 6’5, 224-pound Mettenberger completed 60.3 percent of his passes with the Titans for 2,347 yards with 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Mettenberger did not attempt a regular season pass during his lone season with the Steelers.
